Contacts Letter

Now a bit of introduction, for those that may not know us. Our names are Eric Kennel and Dave Landis, and we graduated in April from Eastern Mennonite University. During our time there, the two of us became involved in a variety of activities and organizations on campus, and developed a deep friendship. Through sharing of different cross-cultural and mission/service experiences overseas, we began to consider the possibility of spending a year together traveling around the world.

Beginning in Mexico in mid-October, we plan to spend several months traveling through Central and South America. In early February we will fly to the Middle East and travel through the Mediterranean region, hoping to reach Eastern Europe by early summer. Assuming things go as planned, our next stop will be in Southeast Asia for a few months. The South Pacific also remains a possibility, depending on our energy and financial situation.

We are now trying to make this idea a reality. In the same way that Christ urged his disciples to live a lifestyle of service and humility, we attempting to answer that calling throughout the course of our journey. We would like to spend time in fellowship with many people throughout the world, sharing our journeys together and learning from each other. If you or your church has a project that we could work on while we are in your country or if you know of a local organization that could use our help, we would be glad to offer our service as volunteers.

With simple living as our model, many of our nights on the road will be spent camping outside. Of course, we would welcome a place to stay but that is not a priority. Our priority is meeting people, sharing of ourselves, and pursuing the journey that God has called us to.

I just posted this to work with it. Sorry I haven't had too much mental energy to dissect it yet. Hopefully at work tomorrow I can take another look. It looks good though, we'll probably just have to personalize each email as we feel fit. We can base each of them around this framework.
