First Climb
| Description |
: |
We left around 4am in the dark to climb up Kala Patthar (5550m = 18208ft), the highest point of the trek and the best close-up view of Mt. Everest (8848m). We arrived at the lookout summit with a little snow on the ground and some clouds in the sky. Unfortunately, the view was not clear and after a little while we headed down. The cold morning air was difficult for me to breathe, and it took a lot of effort to climb the 400m up from Gorak Shep. This photo shows me happy to be at the top.
